The fifth annual Seattle Erotic Art Festival (SEAF) will be held March 16-18, 2007 at the Fenix Performance Arts Theater (1700 1st Ave South) . SEAF2007 will display a comprehensive collection of international contemporary fine art that celebrates the diversity of human sexual expression and the incredible creativity with which artists approach the subject of erotica. All media will be represented: painting, photography, sculpture, assemblage, prints, installations, performance art and video. Barbara Shaiman, Director of the Seattle Art Museum Gallery, Patricia Ridenour, instructor at the Photographic Center Northwest and Jim McDonald, independent art curator and owner of Jim McDonald Fine Arts Services graciously served as the SEAF2007 jury. They selected work based on quality of execution, originality of subject and depth of emotion from almost 1,000 pieces submitted by hundreds of artists worldwide.

Invited artists include HYPNOX, Randy Wood, Rebecca Raven, Demi Raven, Ellen Forney, Chris Crites, John Santerineross, with special guests, photographer Steve Diet Goedde and performance artist Coralee Lynn Rose. SEAF is delighted to once again feature guest curator Pet Silvia of the New York gallery Art at Large, who brings erotic art notables Annie Sprinkle, Michael Rosen, Carolyn Weltman, Brian Viveros, Charles Gatewood, Barry Steely, Rik Garrett, Michele Serchuk, Georgie Tier, HR GIGER and Seattle’s own Erin Frost.

Doors open on Friday, March 16 at noon. The Art Noir Costume Gala starts at 8 pm; prizes will be awarded to the sultriest to grace the great hall. On Saturday night, the Festival features a spectacular Performance Art Party and the hottest live art auction in town. During the day, patrons can attend lectures, workshops and art tours. Three Dollar Bill Cinema has programmed short erotic films that will be shown throughout the weekend.

In four short years, SEAF has become a leader in the international trend to popularize erotic art and make it accessible to general audiences and valuable to collectors. SEAF artists enjoy significant sales in the Exhibition, Auction and particularly through the widely popular Festival Store, which features small work, prints, oddities, collectibles and related merchandise. To date, over 10,000 people have been a part of this pre-eminent event.

SEAF was founded in 2002 by Seattle’s Sex Positive Community Center to promote freedom of sexuality, speech and creativity through the erotic expression of fine art and is presented by the Foundation for Sex Positive Culture.
